#136 - Embracing Our
Imperfections

Imperfections:
Not perfect, faulty or incomplete.

In the Hindu mythology, the Lord Ganesha, when depicted as a statue, always has one tusk broken off.

The legend goes along these lines:

"Ganesha got into a fight with Parashurama, who threw his axe at Ganesha’s face."

"Ganesha recognised that the axe was a gift from his father, and he honoured it by accepting it and letting it hit him, and it broke part of his tusk."

This could be a valuable lesson for us, of how we could learn to embrace and love our so-called 'imperfections'.

You see, none of us are perfect!

Yes I know that is hard to believe and the EGO would steadfastly disagree - but I digress.

Pursuing perfection is usually based in fear.

Fear of failure,

Fear of not being acknowledged.

Perfection is fear-driven and thus unhealthy,
if not impossible to attain!

There is nothing wrong with doing our very best, becoming the highest version of ourselves, but the pursuit of perfection, doesn't really send us down any viable path.

So when we really embrace what it is about us that is perhaps called 'imperfect' and accept those looks or qualities, acknowledge, embrace and love them, then there's no resistance to what is.

Unfortunately, our advertising, main stream media, movie producers and social media try to create the perfect men and women equipped with:

wistful eyes,
flawless skin,
Abs to die for,
the cutest of noses,
with the perfect bodies,
immaculately groomed hair.

In other words, eye candy!

Some of which would be near impossible without the ubiquitous air-brush and Artificial Intelligence manipulation!

So the reality is, most of us don't look like that or have aspirations, time or the energy to do so.

Let's embrace our 'imperfections' and do what we can to be the best version of ourselves.

Because beyond our 'imperfections', beyond our body, mind, emotions, our life story, beyond all of the judgements, limiting beliefs and ideas we might have about ourselves:

Is an extraordinary human being, an infinite being, filled with love, and all the qualities of the heart.

Put your attention on the qualities of your heart, embody, integrate and practice those, make that your worthwhile pursuit.

“When you begin to walk your own journey, to have your own unique conversation, you will naturally stop feeling envious of others.
Not because you’ll realize your desires are different from theirs, but because they are so similar.

You’ll discover the difference between doing well and pretending to do well, between being happy and pretending to be happy, between healthy relationships and staged ones.

You’ll see just how many obstacles lie on any path.

You’ll realize that it takes the same amount of effort to work on building up the quality of the conversations in your life as it does to broadcast to the public, constantly, that those conversations are already perfect.

You can either build up the mask or build up the authentic self.

And you, brave and beautiful you, will make the right choice eventually.

Be it now or on your deathbed.

We all realize soon enough.”
